Why do the magnets on the mounting bar turn off during grinding ?
So that they do not influence the shape of (distort) the bedbar/bedknife during the grind.
The magnets are a “load assist” or “extra hand” device. When the grindstone motor comes on, they turn off, allowing the bedknife assembly to assume it’s natural shape as removed from the mower. When the grind motor is turned off the magnets come on again to assist with unloading the assembly from the Anglemaster.
