Express Dual and Anglemaster Moved to 2010 Ryder Cup Maintenance Facility

By BERNHARD MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

Tournament preparation has long been underway at The Celtic Manor Resort 2010 golf course for their two big events this year – The Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open and the Ryder Cup.

Jim McKenzie, Director of Golf Courses and Estates Management, and his maintenance team have the purpose built 2010 course ready for action and that includes moving their Express Dual, Anglemaster 4000DX and Rotamaster 4000 grinders from the old maintenance facility at the Roman Road Course to the Richardson’s Farm maintenance facility at the 2010 course two miles away.

Richardson’s Farm is exactly that, a farm, and had been a working farm for many years. Purchased by The Celtic Manor Resort, the land now forms part of the 2010 course while the farmyard, barns and house were left unused for several years. Nature made some serious efforts trying to reclaim it and there was a certain amount of undergrowth and weeds everywhere. Converting the farm and farmyard to a working maintenance facility was a massive and time consuming task.

A lot of effort has gone into the new workshop, especially the grinding area. A former calf rearing shed was converted to a tool store, irrigation store, workshop and grinding room. The grinding room houses the Express Dual, Anglemaster and Rotamaster grinders, which have been a part of the Celtic Manor Resorts tournament preparation process for the past sixteen years.

Bernhard’s Technical Training Staff will be providing the tournament support throughout The Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open and the Ryder Cup Matches.
